The ComEd UIC Chance Scholarship is a merit-based program initiative, that is designed to encourage Illinois residents with the pursuit of their college education. Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) is the major energy delivery company within the state of Illinois. The candidates must be enrolled as an entering first-time freshman or rising sophomores within one of targeted STEM fields at any accredited four-year institution within the United States. The candidates must have successfully completed the UIC Chance Program. The applicants should provide the following documents in addition to the Student Application Form: One Academic Recommendation, Transcript (latest), Letter of Acceptance and Resume. The selected recipients will receive scholarships up to $16,650 during the 2017-18 year. The selected recipients may eligible for renewal scholarship up to three years if they continue to meet the program requirements.
Lastly, the candidates must have permanent residence within the following Illinois counties: Boone, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Ogle, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago and Woodford.
