Career Advancement Program 2022

Petplan’s new Career Advancement Program (CAP) is a year-long rotational work opportunity focused on four of our company’s departments: IT project management, digital marketing, insurance & actuarial, and finance & business intelligence. In addition to partaking in a variety of day-to-day functions, CAP employee participants will focus on large scope projects with the potential to create a lasting organizational impact. They hope that the Career Advancement Program will empower participants to find their niche and move forward in their careers. They also hope that they have fun along the way. Their 2022 program will commence on January 2022 and conclude on December 30th.

Participants will work a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday in a fully remote environment. Mentored by top industry voices, those selected will spend three months in each department moving from high-level overview through granular, subject-matter expert content. The Career Advancement Program is designed for those who are passionate and hard-working who thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving workplace. A general interest in each area of the program’s focus is a must. Should one particular area inspire and intrigue, they provide a stipend to cover additional studies, certifications, or other related content. At the end of the program, participants will be empowered by a year of valuable work experience to take on their careers with gusto! Primary Responsibilities may include: For Marketing (3 months): Competitive analysis reports, channel management, user testing and feedback, cost per acquisition (CPA) data collection, guidance of the customer journey For IT Project Management (3 months): Production and release management, vendor management, project budget forecasting, agile methodologies in practice, InsureTech (insurance technology) navigation For Finance & Business Intelligence (3 months): Competitive intelligence requests, financial forecasting, annual budgeting, product comparisons For Insurance & Actuarial (3 months): Regulatory compliance research, rate calculations, product analysis, data output requests General Responsibilities may include: Gathering requirements, running reports, completing research assignments, compiling data, attending standing meetings with the team, ad hoc departmental requests Requirements


*Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university

*Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills

*Solutions-oriented mindset with a critical eye for details

*Ability to maintain high level of productivity while working in a remote setting

*Desire to learn in all four of the discussed departmental areas

*Knowledge of tools such as Tableau, the Adobe suite, and/or Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word) a big plus, in addition to any certifications (i.e.     Amazon Web Services) a plus 


Junior Marketing Copywriter

The position is full time and employees receive competitive compensation. Other perks for the Petplan team include health, dental, matching 401k, paid vacation, and discounted pet insurance. They are looking for candidates who can balance the wisdom that comes from solid work experience with the passion to push the limits and always take a fresh approach. The Junior Marketing Copywriter will work with a team of content writers, graphic designers and web developers on diverse print and online media projects, and will need to be versatile and multi-faceted. The ideal candidate will have a creative flair and excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. Primary Responsibilities  Proofreading various marketing materials on a daily basis  Editing various team member’s work for clarity, consistency and compliance  Managing editorial calendars and disseminating communications across departments  Writing copy for print, email, web and social, as directed  Assisting with administrative tasks to support communications workflow  Additional responsibilities as assigned by team leaders and other copywriters.


* BA/BS degree English, Journalism, or Communications;

* 2-4 years of experience in relevant writing or editorial role, preferably in agency or in-house marketing environment

* Familiarity with the AP Style Guide

* Technical proficiency and awareness

* Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment

* Strong understanding of traditional and new media

* Strong communication skills, both oral and written

* Relentless attention to detail

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel

* Social media and PR knowledge a plus 

Jr. Software Developer, Billing & Rating

They’re looking for candidates who can balance the wisdom that comes from solid work experience with the passion to push the limits and always take a fresh approach.  Primary Responsibilities  Develop code and design software for billing and rating platforms  Monitor and assist with software testing, as well as validation procedures and programming  Proactively seek out ways to improve software processes through continual analysis and problem-solving  Monitor and assist with software installation; ensure platform operates within established specifications  Evaluate user feedback to then modify software for optimal usability  Refactor existing software to enhance and correct it's functionality  Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems  Ensure data security through the development of programs that monitor safe information sharing


*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

*1-3 years of experience in development or similar role preferred; recent graduates encouraged to apply

*Knowledge in Web technologies, particularly HTML5/CSS3, Java, Java Script, ReactJS/Typescript/React Native/NodeJS

*Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

*Experience with Microsoft SQL Server preferred

*Experience with testing and deployment of applications and systems

*Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GIT and Bitbucket

* Understanding of Agile methodologies preferred

* Familiar with Cloud Computing (AWS, Google Cloud)

* Experience designing RESTful APIs

* Ability to apply initiative and judgment to define and perform tasks, sometimes complex, and sees the bigger picture

* Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

* Excellent team player; proven ability to apply innovative ideas and critical thinking

* Able to anticipate needs, innovate and flourish in a high volume, fast paced environment
