The SAR Family Emergency Scholarship Program is open to junior (class of 2021) and seniors (class of 2020) at UNCF member schools who are currently experiencing a financial crisis prohibiting them from graduation or completion of the 2019-2020 academic year.
Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship will provide an award up to $5,000 depending on the financial need of the student as verified by the attending University or College.
This is a one time award to be disbursed in April 2020. Previous recipients must re-apply for consideration.
In order to have a completed application package, candidates must include:
* Completed Application profile
* Essay (personal statement of financial emergency)
Please note: Current High School students, college freshmen and sophomores during the 2019-2020 academic year are ineligible for consideration of this award.
A Last Dollar Scholarship is a need-based "gap-filling" award. It is awarded when a family's expected family contribution (EFC) and financial aid package total are less than the cost of attendance thus resulting in unmet financial need. Scholarship awards will vary according to the financial need of each applicant but no more than $5,000.
