Through a collaborative partnership with UNCF, The PNC Foundation, a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation has established a scholarship program that helps ensure educational access and the reduction of the financial burden for students from Central and Northern New Jersey studying education and early-childhood at UNCF institutions, colleges and universities. UNCF works with the PNC Foundation Scholarship program to identify qualified scholarship recipients.
The eligible applicants are required to posses a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and have unmet financial need as verified by the financial aid office. The candidates must have permanent residency or reside within Central or Northern New Jersey, and majoring in the field of early childhood education or education. The applicants must currently attend a UNCF member institution or an accredited four-year institution in the state of New Jersey.
Lastly, candidates must complete the online application and submit the following application materials by the application deadline; one letter of recommendation, an essay describing career interest and goals, and most recent official or unofficial transcripts.
Selected students will receive a one time need based award of up to $2,500 for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Please Note the Following Guidelines on "How to Invite Reference/Recommender?"
One letter of recommendation is required for a complete application. The recommender must not be related to you. The recommendation form must be submitted before or by the deadline.
In order to give your recommender the maximum amount of time to submit his/her recommendation, you should enter all information for your recommender (name and e-mail) as early as possible. This Application System will remind you to "Invite References" until your recommender has been invited. This generates an e-mail to your recommender notifying him/her of your application and request for his/her recommendation. For assistance with reference, please see the attached supporting document to the right.
