The world's first spaceline, Virgin Galactic and the Virgin Group's not-for-profit Virgin Unite have come together to announce the Galactic Unite STEM Scholarship Program. The selected recipients will be required to participate in the Galactic Unite mentorship program. Scholar will have the opportunity to select a mentor each year from Virgin Galactic and/or The Space Company.
The Galactic Unite Bytheway Scholarship program will provide $7,500 scholarship to first-year female college student pursuing STEM degrees at any accredited four-year college or university in the United States. The Galactic Unite Bytheway Scholarship will be awarded in September 2015. The award is renewable for four years. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
"It is exciting to be able to partner with Virgin Galactic to provide STEM scholarships to young women,” said Bytheway. “Some of the fastest growing and financially rewarding jobs in the US are in the STEM fields. While women make up more than 50% of the work force, they only comprise one quarter of the STEM jobs. The world needs inventive, intelligent women who can make a difference in STEM."
If you are enrolled in a similar technical field above, you should select one that is closely associated with your major.
For full award consideration, applicants should provide the following in addition to the Student Application Form: Two Reference Forms (Academic and General), High School Transcript and Resume.
