The UNCF/Anthem Corporate Scholars Program is a nationwide workforce initiative that creates career opportunities for minority students. The program will provide internship opportunities during the summer of 2019 for qualified students based on specific eligibility requirements, area of study and GPA. Our 2019 Corporate Scholars will be an integral part of our Commercial and Specialty Sales team across the 14 states where Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield products are sold.

Internship Eligibility Requirements

Students must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better

Must currently be sophmores and juniors at a 4- year accredited college/university during the application and interview process; rising juniors and rising seniors for the 2019-2020 academic year.  This means you must be currently enrolled as sophomores and juniors during the 2018-2019 academic year.  

Students must major in business, business (sales interest), communications, marketing, healthcare management, health policy or economics. 

Students must possess strong analytical problem solving, interpersonal, written and oral communication sklls.

Students must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and social media platforms

Students selected for the internship will be required to participate in the UNCF Student Leadership Conference to be held in late May 2019 in Washington, DC. The UNCF Student Leadership Conference is a 3-day professional development training designed to support our students in having a successful internship experience and becoming high performing career professionals. The travel expenses to and from the leadership conference are covered by the program.

The Anthem Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Anthem, Inc. and through charitable contributions and programs, the Foundation promotes the inherent commitment of Anthem, Inc. to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and families in communities that Anthem, Inc. and its affiliated health plans serve. The Foundation focuses its funding on strategic initiatives that address and provide innovative solutions to health care challenges, as well as promoting the Healthy Generations Program, a multi-generational initiative that targets specific disease states and medical conditions. These disease states and medical conditions include: prenatal care in the first trimester, low birth weight babies, cardiac morbidity rates, long term activities that decrease obesity and increase physical activity, diabetes prevalence in adult populations, adult pneumococcal and influenza vaccinations and smoking cessation.
