The UNCF/Anthem Corporate Scholars Program is a nationwide workforce initiative that creates career opportunities for minority students. The program will provide internship opportunities for summer 2018 for qualified students based on the eligibility requirements.

Internship Eligibility Requirements

Students must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better

Students must be a junior at a 4- year accredited college/university during the application and interview process.

Students must major in business, business (sales), communications, marketing, healthcare management, health policy and finance.

Students must be an underrepresented minority student have the ability to accept an internship position in the following areas – HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION ARE NOT PROVIDED:

  • Richmond, VA 
  • Norfolk,VA 
  • Virginia Beach,VA 
  • Atlanta, GA 
  • St. Louis, MO 
  • Albany, NY 
  • Wallingford, CT 
  • New York, NY 
  • Indianapolis, IN 

Students must possess strong analytical problem solving, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Students must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and social media platforms

The Anthem Internship Program

All applicants for the UNCF/Anthem Corporate Scholars Program can apply and may be eligible for internship opportunities at the Anthem Corporation. The internship is open to college juniors for a paid internship for eight weeks during the summer 2018 to develop a diverse workforce in various fields within the healthcare insurance industry based on our nation’s future hiring needs. Summer internship opportunities will be offered at various Anthem business locations in Norfolk, Richmond and Virginia Beach- VA; Atlanta- GA; St. Louis- MO or Albany, New York -NY; Wallingford- CT, Indianapolis- IN. Each candidate will be expected to present to key project/department staff a final report and/or presentation of their internship experience. Housing will not be provided by the program.

Students selected for the internship will be required to participate in the UNCF Student Leadership Conference to be held in late May 2018 in Washington, DC. The UNCF Student Leadership Conference is a 3-day professional development training designed to support our students in having a successful internship experience and becoming high performing career professionals. The travel expenses to and from the leadership conference will be covered by the internship program.
