UNCF/Janssen Health Science Scholarship was established by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc in partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to support students majoring in health care related discipline.

Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants for the UNCF/Janssen Health Science Scholarship program must meet the following eligibility requirements: 

  1. Be a student-of-color (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx American, Asian/Pacific island American or Native American with a recognized tribal affiliation) who is full-time enrolled at one of the 37 UNCF member institutions or at an accredited, four-year college or university in the state of New Jersey.
  2. Complete a FAFSA form and demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by the College/University.
  3. Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above
  4. Have a major in a related health care discipline (nursing, biology, chemistry, pharmacy, psychology, kinesiology, physical therapy, biochemistry, biological sciences, etc.)
  5. Be a current junior or senior in classification at the time of award in spring 2022.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit:

  1. an online application 
  2. a personal statement of career interest 
  3. a current transcript 

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants who have submitted complete applications will be notified of scholarship decisions within 8 weeks after the application due date. 

Selected students will receive a one time, need based $5,000 scholarship award in the spring 2022.
