Sodexo Scholars (Application Part I) 2021

At Sodexo, we are committed to supporting our frontline employees. It drives us to continually look for new ways to help our employees get and stay ahead in a competitive work environment. One of the many ways we can show our support is by helping them bridge the financial gap that may keep them from achieving their higher-education goals.

Sodexo is pleased to partner with UNCF to help frontline, hourly and non-exempt employees of Sodexo and Sodexo-owned companies earn a college degree.  Below are some details of the program:

*Sodexo will provide $10M over the next 10 years to be used for scholarships based on financial need and merit.

*Full- or part-time, hourly, non-exempt frontline employees and their qualified dependents can apply for a scholarship.

*Scholarships are renewable for up to four years and can be used for educational expenses.

*Awards are for students seeking a degree at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) that are partners with Sodexo or UNCF.

*Scholarships will be awarded beginning Fall 2021.

*Note:Sodexo owned companies include:  Centerplate, Circles, Comfort Keepers, Denali, Inspirus and Roth

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Eligibility requirements for selection:

*Full- or part-time, hourly and non-exempt frontline employees of Sodexo and Sodexo-owned companies are eligible to apply for a scholarship if they have at least one (1) year of service with the company.

*Dependents of the above-mentioned group of employees are also eligible if they are the employee’s biological child, stepchild or adopted child and meet dependency guidelines under the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

*All applicants must be classified as a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior seeking an undergraduate degree from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that are partners of Sodexo or UNCF during the academic year 2021-2022.

*Additionally, frontline employees and their dependents must also:

*Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for full-time study, or a cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale for part-time study.

*Be a citizen, national or permanent resident of the U.S.

*File the FAFSA each year and be eligible for federal financial aid.

*Have unmet financial need as determined by the student's college or university financial aid office.

APPLICATION DETAILS:

The application for the Sodexo Scholars Program consists of two (2) parts. 

Part 1:

Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal (all parts of the application must be completed):

*The name, employee ID and workplace location of the Sodexo/Sodexo-owned company employee

*Dependents of employees of Sodexo or a Sodexo-owned company must submit a signed, written statement from his/her parent (employee) who attests that the student is a biological child, stepchild or adopted child of the employee.

*The name of the Sodexo partner HBCU or the UNCF member HBCU where the student is or plans to enroll.

*A statement of the applicant’s extracurricular activities, honors and awards, and community service.

*The applicant’s GPA and a copy of the final high school transcript, completion of the GED (no numerical GPA), or a college/community college transcript. Non-traditional aged or experienced individuals may submit a high school diploma if a transcript is not available. 

*IMPORTANT:  File your 2021-2022 FAFSA by April 1, 2021 if you have not done so already.

Eligible applicants will be invited to move on to Part 2 of the application in early May 2021.  

Part 2:

Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal (all parts of the application must be completed):

*A letter of admission or proof of current enrollment at the approved Sodexo partner HBCU or UNCF member HBCU on the list.

*2021-2022 FAFSA SAR (Student Aid Report) with the application.

*Two (2) essay questions.

*Two (2) recommendations from non-family members.
