The Jack and Jill of America Foundation is committed to the positive development of African American youth as future leaders. Through providing programs focused on financial literacy, education, mentoring, health and wellness, and early childhood development, the Foundation promotes the preparation of succeeding generations of African American leaders. 

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship will provide need-based scholarships to service-oriented African American rising college freshmen who have completed a minimum of 60 hours of community service activities during the 2021-2022 academic year. Award funds will be disbursed in the 2022-2023 academic year. This scholarship may be renewed in the sophomore through senior years for recipients who qualify. 

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be African American and a US citizen or permanent US resident.
  2. Be currently classified as a graduating high school senior. 
  3. Be enrolled full-time as an incoming freshman for the 2022-2023 academic year at any accredited 4-year college or university.
  4. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Have completed a minimum of 60 hours of active community service activities between June 2021 - May 2022. The service hour requirement will not be waived.
  6. Have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a demonstrated unmet financial need as verified by the applicant's institution.

Application Requirements

  1. An official or unofficial current academic transcript.
  2. A 1-page essay (see application for details).
  3. A completed Community Service Verification Form (the download link is located on the right side of this page). Applicants who do not use the provided form will not be considered.

 

Applicants who do not meet all eligibility and application requirements will not be considered for this scholarship opportunity.
