The Moody’s UNCF Scholarship provides thirty-five two-year, need-based scholarships of $5,000 ($2,500 for junior year and $2,500 for senior year) to eligible Black/African American students.

Application Criteria

Applicants for the Program must meet the following criteria; 

  • Be Black/African American. 

  • Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 

  • Be enrolled full-time at any four-year accredited college or university. 

  • Be a rising junior (second semester sophomore) at the time of application. 

  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. 

  • Have a demonstrated, unmet financial need as verified by college or university. 

  • Be enrolled full-time as a junior at the time of the award, at an accredited UNCF member institution, other HBCU, or four-year accredited college or university. 

Application Process 

To complete the application package, you must: 

  1. Sign and submit an online application 

  1. Write a one-page personal statement of career interest (prompts and further instructions included in application) 

  1. Provide a current transcript 

The scholarship will be renewed in the subsequent year if the student continues to meet the criteria.
