Developed in partnership with UNCF, the Eli Lilly Make Life Better Scholarship Program will provide need-based scholarships to college sophomores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio who are studying STEM-related disciplines. Preference will given to candidates who are African American/Black, Latinx/Hispanic American, women, and minority women studying engineering. This $10,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2022-2023 academic year, and may be renewed in the junior and senior years for recipients who continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Applicants who do not meet all eligibility and application requirements will not be considered for this scholarship opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be a US citizen or legal US resident.
  2. Be a permanent resident of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, or Ohio.
  3. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Be majoring in a STEM disclipine.
  5. Will be enrolled full-time as a college sophomore at any accredited 4-year institution for the 2022-2023 acaemic year.
  6. Have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a demonstrated unmet financial need, as verified by the applicant’s institution.

Application Requirements

  1. An official or unofficial current academic transcript.
  2. A 1-page essay (see application for details).
  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation.

Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must log in to their student account and select "Invite Reference" on the Application Status page. Applicants should also email the How to Submit a Letter of Recommendation document (download link on the right side of this page under Supporting Documents) to their reference for detailed instructions. Applications with only one (1) letter of recommendation are considered incomplete.

 

Application materials, including letters of recommendation, will not be accepted via email at any time. Applicants who have submitted complete applications will be notified of scholarship decisions by May 31, 2022.
