The UNCF Tierra and Angel Long-Tyler Memorial provides with a need-based scholarship to college juniors and seniors who are majoring in a health care related field. A preference is given to nursing majors. Eligible candidates must attend Duke University, Spelman College, Norfolk State University or any four-year, accredited institution in the D.C. Metropolitan Area.
In addition, eligible applicants must:
1. Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
2. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid ("FAFSA") form and have a financial need as verified by the office of Financial Aid at their attending institution.
3. Enroll full-time for the academic year 2020-2021.
For scholarship award consideration, applicants must submit the online application for the Program, complete with a letter of recommendation, a 500-750 word essay on "Your passion to be the best health care professional you can be", and a current transcript. The application shall be available via UNCF's website at www.uncf.org.
All application materials must be received by the applicable deadline, December 23, 2020.
Select students will receive a one-time $2,500 need-based scholarship in the academic year 2020-2021
